Privacy Policy

This policy explains what MotifSmith ("we") collects when you use motifsmith.com.

Your images stay on your device

When you create a chart from an image, the image is processed in your browser. We do not receive or store the original image. If you save, download or publish, we store the resulting chart: its stitches, colors, size and title.

The one exception is sending a picture from your phone to your computer with a QR code. A smaller copy passes through our server so your computer can collect it, and we delete it as soon as it's collected, or after 15 minutes at most.

What we collect

• Account details: your email address and name, and a password hash if you sign up with a password.
• Saved patterns: charts you save, publish or download, and your likes and reports.
• Purchases: what you bought and when. Card and payment details are handled by our payment provider and never reach us.
• Usage and technical data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, how you arrived (such as UTM parameters), and product events like downloading a pattern. We use these to run the service, prevent abuse and improve the product.
• On your device: cookies keep you signed in. Local storage holds your draft and row progress.

Published patterns are public

If you publish a pattern, its chart, preview and title are visible to everyone, can be downloaded by others, and may appear in search engines. You can unpublish or delete it at any time, but we can't recall copies others have already downloaded.

Who we share data with

Service providers that help run MotifSmith, including hosting and database (Cloudflare), payment processing, email delivery, and analytics if enabled. We don't sell your personal data. We may disclose data if the law requires it.

Keeping and deleting data

We keep account data while your account is active, and purchase records as long as accounting and tax rules require. To delete your account or get a copy of your data, email support@motifsmith.com.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export your data, or object to how we use it. Email us to exercise them. MotifSmith isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we make significant changes, we'll update this page and its date.
