Terms of Service

By using motifsmith.com ("MotifSmith", "the Service") you agree to these terms.

Accounts

You don't need an account to create charts online. You need one to save, publish or download. Keep your login secure and give accurate information. You must be old enough to form a contract where you live, or use the Service with a parent's or guardian's permission.

Your content

You keep whatever rights you have in images and designs you use. You're responsible for making sure you have the right to use them. Don't use images of other people without permission, or material protected by someone else's copyright or trademark.

Publishing and free downloads

Publishing a pattern is optional. By checking the box and publishing, you confirm you have the rights to the design and you give MotifSmith a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce and promote it on the Service and in marketing for the Service, and to let other users view, follow and download it for personal use. This agreement is how a free download is earned, up to three per account.

You may unpublish or delete your pattern at any time. That ends the license for future display, but copies already downloaded by others aren't affected. Free downloads you've used are not returned.

We may remove any pattern, with or without notice, including when it's reported. See the publishing rules.

Credits and payment

Credits are used to download PDFs: one credit, one download of a design. Downloading an unchanged design again is free. Credit packs don't expire; Year Pass credits expire after one year. Year Passes do not renew automatically. Credits have no cash value and can't be transferred. Prices are shown before you pay, and our payment provider processes the transaction. See the refund policy.

Using patterns

You may make items from patterns you created or downloaded, including items to give or sell. Don't resell or redistribute other users' charts or MotifSmith Originals as patterns.

Estimates

Charts and yarn amounts are provided as a guide. Results depend on your materials and tension, so make a swatch first.

Service availability and liability

The Service is provided "as is", without warranties to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, MotifSmith isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be waived.

Ending your use

You can stop at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.
