Here it is at 96 stitches across. Lovely on a screen, but about 11,000 stitches and a dozen yarns to manage.
Why a knitting chart is different
A knit stitch is wider than it is tall. A chart drawn in perfect squares comes out stretched in the finished piece, so here each stitch is drawn at its real proportion and your picture keeps its shape. Use it for stranded colorwork, Fair Isle or intarsia.
How to read the chart
Start at the bottom row. Worked flat, odd rows read right to left and even rows left to right. Knit a swatch to check your tension, because it changes the stitch’s proportion and your yarn use. Yarn amounts here are rough estimates.
Is this knitting pattern generator free?
Yes. Making, editing and following a chart online is free with no account. A clean PDF costs one credit, or it is free if you publish your design to the gallery, up to three times per account.
Can it write a sweater pattern?
No. It makes flat colorwork charts. It does not write shaping for garments, so use a charted motif inside a tested pattern.
